The Jack Higginbotham Legal Expense Trust Fund is established to receive funds and to pay expenses related to the investigation and legal proceedings arising from the controversy between Oregon State University and the family of Art Robinson.
Professor Higginbotham's decision to establish this fund is due to the overwhelming outpouring of support from individuals who wish to stand with him as he defends his academic position at Oregon State University and his belief that students should be judged solely on the basis of their scholarship. A university's primary mission must be student success, irrespective of the student's economic, social, political, ethnic, religious, or racial status.
This Legal Expense Trust Fund is authorized by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission pursuant to ORS 244.205 through ORS 244.221.
The Trust will terminate when the Trustee determines that legal matters are completed and all obligations are met. Any remaining funds will be transferred to the National Space Grant Foundation for dissemination as scholarships under the William A. Hiscock Space Grant Scholarship program administered by Montana Space Grant. The Trustee of this Legal Expense Trust Fund is Mr. Eric Rockett (eric@rockettscienceinc.com). Please contact Mr. Rockett if you have any questions.
The Trustee must provide quarterly statements to the Oregon Government Ethics Commission which includes the name and address of each person who makes an aggregate contribution of more than $75 and the total contributed by that person. This information must be provided in order for the contribution to be accepted by the trust.
